It’s an exciting day for Kiesel fans as Kiesel just announced the latest addition to their headless signature model lineup: The Thomas McRocklin MCR6X. Based on the shape of their Zeus model, the MCR6X is built with all the specs that a highly technical guitarist like McRocklin wants and needs in a guitar. Because of the benefits that headless guitars have to offer, more and more artists are turning towards them and even coming out with their own signature models. The MCR6X is the latest great addition to the ever-growing number of headless models available.
The guitar features a swamp ash body with raw toned antique ash treatment. The pickups are McRocklin Signature Fishman Fluence humbuckers and sound great for lead and riff playing, as demonstrated in the video below. It features a Hipshot tremolo. The 20″ radius fretboard uses a Richlite Diamond Black fretboard, a new addition for Kiesel. Richlite is hailed as being more sustainable compared to real traditional wood and is much more stable due to its properties. It features 24 stainless steel jumbo frets with the McRocklin signature inlay at the 12th fret.
The nice thing about Kiesel is that because they are a custom guitar builder, they leave you with room for customizability, even for certain features of their signature models. On the MCR6X you can choose between a 1-piece, 3-piece, or 5-piece neck with the options of maple or walnut, or walnut with one or two purple heart stripes. The body also comes with the option of a flamed maple or poplar burl top, with the choice of several different unique colors.
